SUMMARY:12th Finnish Flame Day (Liekkipäivä)
DESCRIPTION:Dear all,\nThe Finnish Thermal Energy Research Association (FTERA) would like to invite all interested to participate in the 12th Finnish Flame Day (Liekkipäivä). The event takes place on the 11th and 12th of November in Kuopio. The event will start with a dinner on November 11th in Scandic Kuopio (Satamakatu 1) and a full-day technical program on November 12th. The technical program consists of keynote lectures, a panel discussion and poster presentations.\nThis biennial event is a special forum for both industry and academia in the field of thermal energy science and technology in Finland.  The event will be chaired by Professor Olli Sippula from the University of Eastern Finland.\nThe theme for this year is:\n“Towards net-zero emissions in thermal energy systems”\n\n \nCall for abstract\nA poster session for researchers and students will be held on the second day of the event. This session allows young researchers to directly network with industry representatives, more senior researchers and other potential future colleagues.\nThe organizing committee is seeking contributions from students and postdocs in the wide range of topics relating to thermal energy, including but not limited to:\ntopics relating to thermal energy, including but not limited to:\n\nWaste-to-energy: Co-combustion and thermochemical conversion technologies\nCarbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS)\nFuel characterization\nReaction kinetics in combustion chemistry\nHeterogeneous and spray combustion\nDiagnostic process modeling and optimization\nEmission formation and characteristics\nEmission control and CO2 mitigation\nAsh related phenomena during combustion\nAsh management and utilization\nDigitalization in the power sector\nProduction of energy carriers, chemicals and materials\nCombustion engine technologies\nHeat recovery and transfer technologies\nPower-to-X technologies & e-fuels\nTechno-economic analysis, life cycle assessment of thermal energy systems\nPolicies and strategies analysis under energy transition.\n\nThe abstract should include a maximum of 250 words (excluding possible references and figure/table captions) and can contain in total two figures or tables. The possible reference list should be concise.  Please list all authors of the work and their affiliation clearly.\nThe abstract template can be found at:\nhttp://www.ftera.fi/wp-content/uploads/_pda/2026/06/Abstract_template_12th_Finnish_Flame_Day_Liekkipaiva.docx ( http://www.ftera.fi/wp-content/uploads/_pda/2026/06/Abstract_template_12th_Finnish_Flame_Day_Liekkipaiva.docx )\nThe abstract should be submitted as a PDF-file to alessandro.ruozzi@abo.fi. Please include a certificate of enrollment as attachment if you are a student (bachelor, master or PhD).\n \nImportant dates:\n \n\n\n\nDeadline for poster abstracts\n15th of August, 2026\n\n\nNotification of acceptance (at the latest)\n20th of September, 2026\n\n\nRegistration deadline\n30th of September, 2026\n\n\n\n \nParticipation fees, link to hotel booking and registration link\n \n\n\n\n\nPrice [EURO]\n\n\nBachelor and master students that are authors or co-authors of an abstract\n0\n\n\nPhD students\n100\n\n\nOther\n150\n\n\n\nRegistration link: https://link.webropolsurveys.com/S/F0859A22C4879F9E\nThe participation fee includes the conference dinner on November 11th and the lunch on November 12th.\nAccommodation is not included in the participation fee. Accommodation at Scandic Kuopio (Satamakatu 1) can be booked at a discounted price via the link below with the promotional code CGWM. The discounted accommodation prices are available as long as rooms are available.\nLink to hotel booking: https://www.scandichotels.com/fi?bookingcode=CGWM\n \nFTERA is looking forward to see numerous people attending the event\n \nMore information on the event\n \n\nInvoices for the participation fee will be sent once you have submitted and abstract and registered for the event.\nThe abstracts and posters will be available online in FTERA’s document library if the presenter agrees. The published material on the website will only be accessible for members of FTERA.\nThe winner(s) of the Finnish Thermal Energy Award will attend the event for free. The transportation costs will be covered by FTERA\nIf you have any question, please do not hesitate to contact FTERA via email at: alessandro.ruozzi@abo.fi\n\n
